Resources for multihousing church planting.
Multihousing Church Planting - According the North American Mission Board there are 120+ million people who reside in multi-housing communities in the United States, its territories and Canada. Multihousing Church Planting is a God-size task. To reach the 120+ million people for the Kingdom of God will require people who are willing to be "on-mission." In New Mexico, the number of people who make their homes in apartments, manufactured housing, senior housing communities, and public housing grows everyday. Nationally less than ten percent (10%) of all multihousing residents, regardless of ethnicity or social-economic background are churched or saved. In New Mexico the number is less than four percent (4%).
Multihousing Overview - As we join God in his multihousing church planting movement across North America, we should be excited just to be a part of it. Multihousing church planting can no longer be an after thought. One half of all the unchurched people in North America (Canada, United States and its Territories) live in one of five types of multihousing communities
- Private Apartment Communities
- Condominium Communities/Community Associations
- Manufactured Housing Communities
- Public Housing Communities Senior Housing Communities
Church Planting in Multihousing Communities - While there are several approaches to planting a church in an apartment community one aspect is common: a goal of planting a permanent indigenous church in the community and for the community; not to see how big the congregation can grow so that it can be moved to a location outside the community.
Church Planting in Private Apartment Communities - Multiple attached/affiliated dwellings within a given land area overseen by a management concern. In the past they have been called tenant housing and more recently apartment complexes. Increasingly the multihousing industry is saying don’t use the word “complex” because it is a negative term. The multihousing industry has a desire to create community. Whether they are 20+ story luxury high-rises or a 50 section property of 7,500 lower-income residents; the 21st century term is Apartment (Home) Community. (NAMB)
